Canine Cuts was established in November 2016 by myself, Eimear McDermott. I run the business single handed and love my job. I have always loved animals and I regularly volunteered at the DSPCA in my teenage years.
I trained with Karina Kerrigan at her dog grooming school Woofters in Newcastle Co Dublin in June 2016.

I successfully completed my Diploma via City and Guilds in 2019. This is the highest level of qualification and training available to Dog Groomers in Ireland and an achievement I am very proud of.

Prior to the diploma I completed an Internationally recognized City & Guilds dog grooming Certificate level course in August 2016 and a Canine First Responder course in October 2016. Armed with these new skills I decided on a complete career change & pursued a career in dog grooming full time. I have a keen interest in dog behaviour & training.

I completed a Diploma Course through the King Of Paws dog training academy in April 2016. This covered dog behaviour, anatomy & psychology among other interesting topics. I have been able to use the skills and knowledge learnt of these courses in my work as a dog groomer.

I have two Tibetan Terriers, which are a long haired breed requiring a lot of grooming and maintenance. It was while learning how to care for my own dogs coats and realising how much was involved that I decided to undertake a professional dog grooming course. My dogs join me in work & they regularly greet customers & their dogs on arrival at the salon.

Customers dogs are dropped off for grooming and stay for between two and three hours, depending on how long their pamper session takes. I don't keep dogs for longer than necessary. This is to keep any potential stress to a minimum and ensure all dogs go home happy.
